Winter Lecture Series – Lighthouses of Humboldt County
January 24, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The history and preservation of local lighthouses and the maritime culture they fostered along the Lost Coast is the focus of a free lecture series, presented via Zoom, by Friends of the Lost Coast in partnership with BLM King Range. The series kicks off Tuesday, January 24 with a talk by Julie Clark, BLM Interpretive Ranger and author of the recent book, Lighthouses of Humboldt County, who will give an historical overview of the five lighthouses in Humboldt County – including Humboldt Harbor, Table Bluff, Trinidad, Cape Mendocino and Punta Gorda. The presentation will cover the need for lighthouses and the many shipwrecks off our rocky coast, along with stories of the brave lighthouse keepers who operated them. The approximately hour-long lecture will be offered live, via Zoom, from 6 to 7pm on January 24 and will include many archival photographs, plus a Q&A at the end.
