Kicking off an Art Weekend at the Lost Coast Nature Center in Whitethorn, come celebrate the iconic California poppy in this free watercolor class featuring Darcie Maassen & Venessa Kay on Saturday, June 6. Presented by the Shelter Cove Arts & Recreation Foundation, the event runs from 1 to 4pm and is the 5th installment in their 8-part watercolor series – each of which features a lecture on a nature-related topic.

For this special event in the blossoming native plant garden of the Lost Coast Nature Center, FOLC’s Garden Director and Board VP, Cheryl Lisin, will share insights into the CA poppy and the wonders of wildflowers that bring color and life to Lost Coast landscapes each spring. All the while, attendees will create vibrant poppy designs on eco-friendly tote bags using water-soluble ink blocks and brushes.  Simple, sustainable art, inspired by our local flora.
