National Public Lands Day

Friends of the Lost Coast and BLM King Range invite all for a day of service and fun on National Public Lands Day, Saturday, September 24. Meet 10 a.m. at Mal Coombs Park in Shelter Cove to break into groups for three project site locations. Mal Coombs Park projects will include removal of invasive species and work in the native plant gardens surrounding the lighthouse. Black Sands Beach projects will feature the installation of community-made ocean safety signs and monument garden spruce-up. On Low Gap Trail in the King Range, volunteers will assist with repair of a small bridge. The day will culminate back at Mal Coombs Park with lunch from Caffe Dolce at 1 p.m. Volunteers will also receive a National Public Lands Day t-shirt and a free National Parks pass allowing admission for 4 people and parking for 1 vehicle at many participating National Parks. National Public Lands Day is the largest volunteer stewardship event of the year, with service projects happening throughout the U.S. Email [email protected] to RSVP and help in stewarding your King Range National Conservation Area.
