SUMMARY:Creating Pollinator Sanctuaries Workshop
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, March 8\, Friends of the Lost Coast will host a free workshop on creating pollinator sanctuaries with native plants. Restoration ecologist and permaculture designer Kyle Keegan will teach participants how to use the quick and easy method of “sheet mulching” to convert yard\, orchard and garden areas into sanctuaries for native pollinators. This workshop will also discuss plant varieties used to attract and support a diverse array of native species\, including butterflies\, bees\, and hummingbirds. Participants will be able to see a variety of pollinator sanctuaries already established and will also see a small native plant nursery in action. \nThis workshop will take place at the Fool’s Farm in Salmon Creek\, from 10am to 2pm. Space is limited to 15 participants\, with advance registration required. Carpooling is encouraged and directions\, plus caravan/carpool options\, will be shared with registrants prior to the event. Please bring a lunch\, water\, gloves\, and work clothes. Steady rain cancels the event. To register email info@lostcoast.org \nPhoto by Kyle Keegan

SUMMARY:Spring Native Plant Sale - CANCELLED!
DESCRIPTION:This Native Plant Sale has been cancelled due to heavy rains in the forecast for Sunday.  Please join us for our next two spring plant sales on April 20th and May 11th. \nSpring is a perfect time for planting\, so come stock up on native plants for your garden at Friends of the Lost Coast’s first Native Plant Sale of the year – on Sunday\, March 16 from 10a.m. to 3p.m.\, weather permitting.  The nursery has a wide selection of flowering native annuals\, perennials\, shrubs\, trees and grasses available for donation. Professional landscape designer and native plant expert\, Cheryl Lisin\, will be on hand to consult about your planting needs. This event also doubles as a volunteer work party – and is a great introductory opportunity to learn more about volunteering in the garden (workdays are held monthly on the 1st & 3rd Sundays). \nDiscover the Lost Coast Education Center and celebrate spring with native plants\, while supporting the environmental education & stewardship programs of Friends of the Lost Coast. Native plants are beautiful\, resilient and many are drought tolerant\, perfect for any garden.  Come stock up at Friends of the Lost Coast’s Native Plant Sale & Garden Work Party. The Lost Coast Education Center & Native Plant Garden is located at the BLM King Range complex at 768 Shelter Cove Road. Look for the sign that says Native Plants!
