SUMMARY:National Public Lands Day
DESCRIPTION:Friends of the Lost Coast and BLM King Range invite all for a day of service and fun on National Public Lands Day\, which we will be celebrating on Saturday\, October 5th in the King Range this year.  We’ll meet at 9:45 a.m. at Tolkan Campground on King Peak Rd.\, and work will focus on trail maintenance on the Paradise Royale Trail\, plus other projects to help prepare for a mountain bike race that is happening at the site later in the month.  The day will culminate with lunch at 1:30p.m and volunteers will also receive a National Public Lands Day t-shirt and free public lands pass.  National Public Lands Day is the largest volunteer stewardship event of the year\, with service projects happening throughout the U.S. !  A limited number of $10/hr stipends are available to youth\, ages 10-17.  Email justin@lostcoast.org for general event info or to register for a youth stipend.

DESCRIPTION:Fall is a perfect time for planting\, so come stock up on native plants for your garden at Friends of the Lost Coast’s Native Plant Sale & Garden Celebration!  We’ll be hosting two fall plant sales this year – on Sunday\, October 13 & Sunday\, November 3 from 10a.m. to 3p.m. The nursery has a wide selection of flowering native annuals\, perennials\, shrubs\, trees and grasses available for donation. Professional Landscape Designer and native plant expert\, Cheryl Lisin\, will be on hand to consult about your planting needs. Family activities\, garden tours\, and refreshments will also be on offer\, along with FOLC merchandise! \nCome discover the Lost Coast Education Center and celebrate autumn with native plants\, while supporting the environmental education & stewardship programs of Friends of the Lost Coast. Native plants are beautiful\, resilient and many are drought tolerant\, perfect for any garden\, so come stock up! The Lost Coast Education Center & Native Plant Garden is located at the BLM King Range complex at 768 Shelter Cove Road. Look for the sign that says Native Plants!
