DESCRIPTION:* Please note this event has been cancelled due to the continuing closure of Needle Rock Rd. \nCA State Parks\, Sanctuary Forest\, and Friends of the Lost Coast are teaming up on Saturday\, June 3 from 10a.m.-1p.m. to remove French broom and other invasive species in Sinkyone Wilderness State Park. Tools and gloves will be provided. Please bring water and a snack\, plus wear sturdy shoes and layers. Meet at the Jones Beach trailhead at 10a.m.\, parking is limited and carpooling is recommended. For more info or to reserve a free volunteer campsite\, email Michelle.Forys@parks.ca.gov. \nAlso\, thanks to a grant from the CA Coastal Commission’s Whale Tail program\, Friends of the Lost Coast is offering five stipend opportunities to local youth\, ages 12-16\, to participate in this stewardship event. Stipends pay $10/hr and are available first come\, first served\, with no prior experience necessary. SUMMARY:Neotropical Bird Hike w/ Kyle Keegan
DESCRIPTION:Local naturalist and restoration ecologist\, Kyle Keegan\, will lead a Neotropical Bird Hike on the Fool’s Farm in the Salmon Creek watershed on Sunday\, June 4 from 9am to 1pm. Focus will be on the ecology\, identification and life history of neotropical birds. Land stewardship practices that can enhance local biodiversity will also be discussed. Participants are encouraged to bring sturdy shoes\, binoculars\, a lunch\, water\, and sun protection. The hike will be easy to moderate\, with a few inclines. Meet at Shop Smart in Redway at 8am. Hike begins 9am at the Fool’s Farm and will go to approximately 1pm. \nSpace is limited and advance registration is required. Email info@lostcoast.org to RSVP or for more information. This hike is a co-presentation of Sanctuary Forest & Friends of the Lost Coast.

SUMMARY:Trailhead Hosts - Black Sands Beach
DESCRIPTION:Friends of the Lost Coast’s Trailhead Hosts program organizes volunteers to assist BLM with engaging visitors at Black Sands Beach in Shelter Cove on the weekends of highest summer usage – Memorial Day\, July 4th and Labor Day. Our Trailhead Hosts answer questions and share information about the King Range\, park rules/regulations\, beach safety\, and Leave No Trace principles.  Email justin@lostcoast.org for more information or to volunteer.  This July 4th Weekend event runs 5 days\, June 30 through July 4 and will be held at the Black Sands Beach trailhead\, 856 Beach Rd in Shelter Cove.
