DESCRIPTION:Friends of the Lost Coast\, Sanctuary Forest and CA State Parks are teaming up again this year on April 2 from 10am-1pm to remove French broom in the Sinkyone Wilderness State Park. Tools and gloves will be provided. Please bring water and a snack if needed and wear sturdy shoes and layers. DESCRIPTION:Spring is a perfect time for planting\, so come stock up on native plants for your garden at Friends of the Lost Coast’s Native Plant Sale & Garden Celebration on Sunday\, April 10 from 10a.m. to 4p.m. The nursery has a wide selection of flowering native annuals\, perennials\, shrubs\, trees and grasses available for donation. Professional Landscape Designer and native plant expert\, Cheryl Lisin\, will be on hand to consult about your planting needs. Activities throughout the day include fun stuff for kids and families led by FOLC’s Environmental Education Coordinator\, Taylor Faye Benedict\, including a native plant scavenger hunt\, creating a sound map by the creek\, learning about macro-invertebrates and how they can indicate the health of our waterways\, among other lessons drawn from FOLC’s new garden curriculum. Emily Totten and Marty’s Party will play acoustic music and refreshments\, FOLC merchandise\, and garden tours will also be offered. \nCome discover the Lost Coast Education Center and celebrate spring with native plants\, while supporting the environmental education programs of Friends of the Lost Coast. Native plants are beautiful\, resilient and many are drought tolerant\, perfect for any garden\, so come stock up at Friends of the Lost Coast’s Native Plant Sale & Garden Celebration. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Earth Day by helping to steward our local public lands on Saturday\, April 23 from 10a.m. to 1p.m. in Shelter Cove. Join Friends of the Lost Coast and BLM King Range National Conservation Area for fun\, the satisfaction of service work and free lunch for volunteers. Service projects take place at Mal Coombs Park\, Abalone Point and Black Sands Beach and include weeding of native plant gardens\, removal of iceplant\, fennel and other invasive species\, spreading of native wildflower seeds and more. Meet 10a.m. at Mal Coombs Park\, located at 1176 Lower Pacific Dr. to sign in and break into teams to cover each of the three sites. The day culminates back at Mal Coombs Park with free lunch for volunteers and Earth Day merriment. Tools and gloves are provided. SUMMARY:Lost Coast Trail Stewards Work Day - Pacific Rim Trail part 2
DESCRIPTION:Local trail enthusiasts are invited to join Friends of the Lost Coast for a trail stewards workday on Pacific Rim Trail in the King Range on Sunday\, April 24 from 10a.m. to 2p.m.\, weather permitting. Work will consist of trail raking\, water bars\, and clearing of downed trees above the staircase at the back of the Pacific Rim loop trail. Tools will be provided. The Lost Coast Trail Stewards crew will meet at Pacific Rim Trailhead\, just off Shelter Cove Rd. at Bear Creek\, an unsigned turn-off approximately 2/10 mile east of the turnoff for Chemise Mountain Rd. Participants are encouraged to bring their own snacks\, water\, and gloves\, plus dress in layers and wear sturdy shoes. This is a great opportunity to meet other trail enthusiasts while also helping maintain/enhance our local trails and assist BLM staff with a backlog of trail maintenance projects.  For more information or to RSVP for the workday\, email justin@lostcoast.org.
